The short version first, then the detail. These terms apply when you use movelane.com.au, request quotes or join as a removalist. Last updated October 2026.
The short version
Four things worth knowing before you use Movelane.
We're not a removalist
Movelane passes your request to removalists. We don't move, store or insure anything ourselves.
Estimates aren't quotes
Our calculator and guides give a ballpark from published rates. Only a removalist can quote your move.
Your deal is with them
Price, dates, insurance and any claim are between you and the removalist you book.
Free for you
Requesting quotes costs nothing. Removalists or partner services may pay us; it doesn't change your price.

What Movelane is
Movelane is an online quote-matching service run by Ahmet Adsay as a sole trader (ABN 25 332 165 013). We publish moving guides and pass quote requests to independent removal companies. We aren't a removalist, a broker that books moves for you, or an insurer.

Your request
Please give accurate details so removalists can quote properly. When you tick the consent box, we send your request to up to 3 removalists that run your route, and they may contact you by phone or email about that move. We never send a request to more than 3 companies. How we handle your details is set out in our privacy policy.

Estimates and guides
Our cost calculator, price ranges and guides are general information based on published rates and government sources, checked when the page was last updated. They can be out of date and they aren't quotes. Always get a written quote and check the latest rules with the government body named on the page.

Your agreement is with the removalist
Any booking, price, dates, insurance and claims for loss or damage are between you and the removalist you choose. Before you book, read their written quote and terms, and ask what insurance covers your goods in transit. We check each removalist's ABN before sending them requests, but we can't guarantee their availability, price or the quality of their work.

How we're paid
Using Movelane is free for you. Removalists, and partner services we may recommend, such as connecting electricity and internet, may pay us a fee for introductions. It doesn't change the price a removalist quotes you, and we'll say so wherever a paid partner appears.

Our responsibility
We take care with what we publish and who we send requests to. To the extent the law allows, we aren't responsible for a removalist's services, or for loss that comes from relying on general information on this site. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or changes any right you have under the Australian Consumer Law that can't lawfully be excluded.

Links to other sites
We link to government sites, removalists and other services. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content.
If you're a removalist
These apply when you join through our For removalists page and receive quote requests.

Joining
Give us accurate business details and a valid ABN, and tell us if they change. We check every ABN on the government's ABN Lookup before sending requests, and we may ask about your insurance or licences.

Using requests
Use each request only to quote that customer for that move. Don't sell, share or add customers to marketing lists, and handle their details in line with the Privacy Act and the Spam Act.

Your work
You deal with the customer directly and you're responsible for your quotes, licences, insurance and the service you provide.

Fees
Requests are free for now. If we ever introduce a fee, we'll tell you in advance and you can choose whether to keep receiving requests.

Stopping
Reply "stop" to any email from us and we'll stop sending requests. We may also stop sending requests if your details can't be verified or customers raise concerns.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version, and changes apply from then.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of New South Wales, Australia.
